Goals

a) the tuition center should equip local youth with computer skills they are denied.
b) the tuition center should equip local kids with computer skills they are denied.
c) Also the center should be a place where people of different kind meet : local slum youth, software engineers,
activists . Where we all critically think about life and transformation in the slum context.
d) External youth help the local youth. The local youth help the children in the local community.
e) Provide a space for expression for both the local youth and the city youth using the web.
f) We will use free software . However folks will also take a occasional look at closed software ( to see how behind it is ;) and convince others to move on to free software )


Practical things : Immediate steps
1) Set up the center with GNU/Linux . Atelast 3 computers.
2) Create a small - time bound curriculum - for the youth to achieve.
3) Create a small - time bound curriculum - for children
4) Create a team of local youth and external folks to monitor and streamline
5) Add in critical thinking sessions: songs/videos/discussions . Atleast once in four weeks.
6) we should also be able to measure the skills achieved in a time frame.

Long term Steps:
1) Enable Kannada Blogging. Encourage local youth to blog in Kannada/English - So that the web serves as a medium for local youth to express things.
2) Equip the center with a cheap digital camera and someone to train folks on this. We can upload these photographs . Hold exhibitions etc.
3) Create resource people and activists and expand to 2 or 3 centers.
4) Create a profiles page of all the folks from the local community and volunteers in the wiki
